James, or “Jay,” is a paralegal at Clark Lau LLC. He is a graduate of Occidental College and studied Diplomacy and World Affairs, with a minor in Russian. In college, he worked as a research assistant in the Diplomacy Department with a focus on authoritarianism and the former USSR. He was introduced into the world of immigration through interning with Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project, which provides pro bono legal services to immigrants in the Los Angeles area. His intellectual interests include human rights and gender issues, which arise out of his research in South Africa regarding white masculinity and apartheid. Outside of school and work he dedicates significant time to reading, thrifting, and trying new foods.
